Whistle Stop Christmas Fair

Hello Reader, I'll be showing my work again down at the Markham train station tomorrow, Dec 11, 2011. I hope your able to come. It should be a great show it's now in it's 3rd year and I'm happy to be participating again.

It's an intimate setting and a lot of fun is had by all participating. I've gotten some great feedback from it the past few years. I'm currently changing the name tags from Studio Tour to personal tags. After that it's getting a working sideshow going.

Painting Day

I finally got out this year. I woke up just before 8am and was out the door by 8:15 with my painting gear in hand. I drive up and down in what I call the expropriated lands. These are properties that were expropriated in 1972 by the federal government in preparation for an airport project in pickering. I called this Rouge park in my video but I did a fact check since and it is actually federally held preserve land which is part of the Green Belt.

Within this area are all sorts of buildings that are fading away. There are some amazing structures scatted across the area. I like getting out there and trying to capture them before they vanish as they have been one by one.

For my first blog post I am showing my 2010 completed paintings in a quick video I have created. I am posting this note a day before the Stouffville Studio Tour commences. This is an incredibly hectic time of year for me and my family. We tear apart the house to get ready for the hundreds of people who decend on us over the weekend.

I always like to say that sales are secondary pleasure for me. I truely mean that. Not to say I don't appreciate them, because I certainly do. It pays for my hobby. If I break even or come out a little ahead I'm all the happier. What I mean is that, when an patron of the arts comes into my space and offers a genuine appreciation for my work means the world to me. I'm over the moon. I understand that my work may not fit in an individuals space or within their personal taste. I respect every individuals effort to come into my home and view my work.

Wish me luck on the weekend. Better yet, come and see what I do.
