He along with his owner were delighted to see the portrait. You can see the framed drawing and all my other work during the Stouffville Studio Tour happening October 15th and 16th

2010 Studio Tour

2010 Stouffville Studio Tour Success

Well Saturday went off without a hitch. I received a great deal of wonderful comments yesterday about my work. The weather has and continues to be incredible this weekend. though the numbers of people were down in my location on Saturday., I had a whopping 70 people through yesterday. Certainly it's nothing to sneeze at. I'm tremendously thankful to everyone who stopped by.

For those who do not know it, Studio Tours take a tremendous amount of work that goes on year round. Not only is it a personal challenge for an artist in his own space, there is an incredible amount of work by all the Studio Tour participants to organize such an event. The year for organizing a tour starts out in February where members of the governing committee get together to start hashing out plans for the year. New artists must also have their applications and portfolios ready in February for review by our selection committees who review all the now applicants to insure the artist meets a level of ability that compliment our tour.

Preparation needs to start early so we can have enough time to create our brochures, website and to get the word out in general. Every artist who enters the tour is brought in to fold as a partner in creating this special event, so everyone has a task or 5 to do. This year everyone did a great job and it's really a testament to the whole of the group to have had the Stouffville Studio Tour become what is it is today.

Thanks to everyone who helped us make this a truly exceptional event for our Community.

For my first blog post I am showing my 2010 completed paintings in a quick video I have created. I am posting this note a day before the Stouffville Studio Tour commences. This is an incredibly hectic time of year for me and my family. We tear apart the house to get ready for the hundreds of people who decend on us over the weekend.

I always like to say that sales are secondary pleasure for me. I truely mean that. Not to say I don't appreciate them, because I certainly do. It pays for my hobby. If I break even or come out a little ahead I'm all the happier. What I mean is that, when an patron of the arts comes into my space and offers a genuine appreciation for my work means the world to me. I'm over the moon. I understand that my work may not fit in an individuals space or within their personal taste. I respect every individuals effort to come into my home and view my work.

Wish me luck on the weekend. Better yet, come and see what I do.
